From north to south the Maldives stretches some 820km and from east to west 120km, they are located on the equator some 700km south west of Sri Lanka.
The view from the air is stunning. Some resorts are close enough to the airport to transfer by speed boat which can be great fun,the Maldivians can certainly handle their boats, but the veiws from the sea plane are out of this world.

As long as I am in the Maldives I don't mind which way I travel, but if you want to see one of the most awesome sights ever then get airborne, I promise you wont be disappointed, even if your resort is close enough to Male for a boat transfer it's well worth taking an excursion in a sea plane, it's not that expensive and it's unforgettable.
